Finding Your Center: The Foundation to Relating With Horses
Wherever you are on your journey, I welcome you! My philosophy of embraces all faiths and beliefs in the recognition of the oneness, or commonality of our "humanness." My teaching and coaching style encourages gentle self-reflection without judgment as we explore the nature of the horse. There are no hard-and-fast rules or dogma for the student to follow, only a willingness to look deeply at one's self, to search and to grow. The "tools" for creating a more conscious connection with horses are based on a sense of awareness of what we humans bring to the relationship, and our ability to transcend the "human way" and fully enter the inner world of the horse.
When we live from our authentic, heart-space, we honor our Spirit and that of the horses we create relationships with. Humans have a tendency to over-think, using our highly developed, "logical" brains to solve problems. Somewhere along the line, we have become disconnected from our body's inner wisdom, our intuitive "knowing." Horses offer us the opportunity to observe what once was our natural state of being as humans...an entity highly attuned to energy, physical sensations and emotions.
Whether we seek to make changes in our life, or work on behavioral issues with our horses, our human tendency is to power through obstacles with our minds, denying our Divine gift of intuition held deep in our body on a cellular level. What I have found is that balance of mind, body and spirit is the key to activating our potential as individuals and creating true relationship with our horses. Being fully present with our horses requires the human to be aware of the energy they bring to the barn each day and the emotions behind the energy. When these emotions (bad day at work, fight with a family member, anxiety over finances) are not properly acknowledged, frustration often builds and true unity seems impossible with our horse companion. What is often not recognized, is that the seemingly uncooperative horse is simply reacting to our emotional energy and our inability to "get out of our head" and into a state of grounded presence where there is no past, no future, only "now".
Horses are amazing facilitators of personal growth because they model for us a "centered," Zen-like state, a place from which authenticity and inspiration flow naturally. Acting as our mirror, they are masters at letting us know when we are even slightly off-center or incongruent. Learning to be fully present with a horse while interacting with them in their own language honors both the horses we love and ourselves!
In addition to teaching a more natural and intuitive form of horsemanship, I teach a variety of gentle methods that help the student become aware of how their energy, past experiences and thought patterns may influence their horse companion, for better or worse. There is no lesson plan or agenda when we begin to work together. My sessions with people and their horses flow easily, inspired by the desire for a deeper connection and a more symbiotic relationship between horse and human.
At the heart of this work is the desire for a more authentic, grounded emotional state of being for the human, which in turn makes for a happier, healthier horse.
Whatever the "heart of the matter" is for you, the horses and I would be happy to work with you on reclaiming more of your womanly authenticity, intuition and the joy of truly honoring your spirit's wisdom.
